We are thrilled that you have decided to join Pony Club and honoured that you chose Shongweni as your Branch. We look forward to getting to know you, your family and your pony/horse ... we hope you have many fun, happy times with us and one day in the future look back on your fondest memories of you with your pony/horse.

Included in your joining fee, is a Pony club metal badge, which if it hasn’t already been presented to you, shall be presented to you soon. You may wear this very special badge with pride & honour when you attend rallies or competitions where other branches are present. With each Efficiency test that you obtain, you will be presented with a felt/leather circle which depicts the colour of the test which you have obtained. You will see all the other kids wear theirs with pride.

Our club colours are Blue & Yellow, and our kids are very passionate about them. Initially you will need an SPC t-shirt & cap, which should be worn at rallies with black jods ... when you compete in competitions which are arranged by KZN and other branches are present, you will be required to wear a Branch Shirt with BEIGE jods. To explain a little further... because branch shirts are a little pricy & beige jods get dirty and stained very easily, we reserve this attire for when we need to turn out our best ... when we are mucking about, getting dirty and having fun, we have the inexpensive t-shirts to wear and the black jods are just more practical. Oops! I nearly forgot ... don’t forget your cap, with our harsh South African sun, we like to protect our faces as much as possible ... after all, we are kids who are horse riders ... not crispy fried chicken!!

Now we don’t want your pony/horse feeling left out of all this Blue & Yellow, do we? So we have SPC numnahs for them to wear as well as ribboned browbands.

But that that’s not all folks..... those are all the things that you NEED to have! I did tell you earlier that our kids are very proud of their clubs colours and are always coming up with new things that they would like to have for their ponies/horses as well as themselves  so, once you are settled in perhaps you too would want to add to your collection of clobber ... but remember it is NOT compulsory.

Now that we have your contact details & you have been added to our database ... we hope you receive all communication about rallies, outings and of course the most important thing ..... FUN! We would love you to attend all the rallies, but with today’s past pace of life, school activities, other sports commitments ... we understand and hope you will come to as many as you can 

You will also, periodically receive a Member’s Profile which is used to track the children’s Efficiency Tests, Achievement Badges, Attendance of rallies and of course the accounts. Our banking details are at the bottom of the ‘account’ for your convenience, should you wish to do an EFT ... if you are unable to do so and prefer to pay cash, please can I ask you Not to deposit cash into the account, it attracts quite hefty bank charges. You can pay cash directly to me, for which I will issue you with a receipt and then I electronically transfer the funds on your behalf. Should you deposit cash, the bank charges will be added to your account.

On a last note, please could I ask you to bear in mind ... Pony Club is a non-profit organisation, all committee members, trainers etc do so on a voluntary basis, we do not get paid for the time & effort which we invest in the kids, we do it for the love of it ... we always try to do our best, but we are human and do not have super powers ... now that you are a member, do remember “this is YOUR branch”, nothing is impossible or unachievable if we all pull together ... your help and assistance is always appreciated, because without YOU we have nothing!

So again, a very warm welcome, I look forward to spending many fun hours with you & your pony!

Yours in Shongweni,
